SPRING

Bluebonnets are solid covering the ground along the driveway.

My front lawn is somewhere under this carpet of bluebonnets.

Yellow jasmine blooming with blooming pear trees behind the fence.

My cute little redbud.

The herb bed.

Lettuces and newly planted tomato plants.

Pepper plants.

The back 'forty'.  There is a fire pit out there somewhere.

This blooming Agarita smells like honey.  Mmmmm.

A newly planted almond tree.  Not sure how it will do here in Central Texas.

The citrus spent the winter in the greenhouse.  they are leafing out now.

My first iris bloom.

The orchard.

Newly planted little apple tree I want to espalier.

The orchard from the other end.

Four Bags Full

Well I've been busy pruning and weeding.  There are about 2 more weeks of weeding needed.  BUT a cold front moved in so I'm going back into hibernation.

Ready for trash day.

This area filled 2 bags with weeds.

Obviously I haven't tacked this area yet.  So many bluebonnets mixed in with that awful clover type weed.

The quince is still blooming.  So pretty this year.

More blooms on the primrose jasmine every day.

The first bluebonnet!

A few daffodils that have survived the drought.

Bells of Ireland are popping up everywhere.  Very vigorous.

Candytuft.  I cheated here.  this is newly planted.

My favorite blue pansies.

Sandankwa viburnum.

Closeup of Sandankwa blooms.

Flowering Quince.

Primrose jasmine

Henbit.  Ha!  Far too much weedy henbit.

Ice Storm

My seed germination station in the garage.

Just a metal rack with florescent lighting.  Works great.  I have plant heating pads also.

The back of the house before dawn.

Frosting on the agave.

Mostly sleet, very little snow.

The back patio.

View of the kitchen garden.

View from inside a nice cozy kitchen.

Decisions, decisions

This time of year I have to decide what I want to plant.  So many choices.  I don't have room for everything.  First I peruse the seed catalogs and make a wish list then I have to be serious and trim down that list.  That first pass is so much fun as I just pick out anything I could possibly want.  Then reality sets in.

2014 Seed catalogs with so many choices.

Leftover seeds from last year, just a sample.

Just a few seedlings getting some sun.  These I started a few weeks ago.  They need to harden off before planting.
